Jonathan Trott has been appointed to coach the England Lions this winter, stepping into the position previously held by Andrew Flintoff.
Flintoff vacated the role in August with immediate effect, and Trott subsequently stepped in to guide the team to a T20 series victory against the touring Sri Lankan side.

Trott, 45, is set to manage a white-ball tour of the West Indies beginning on October 27, a series in South Africa concluding on December 23, and a final leg in Sri Lanka scheduled between February and March.

Ed Barney, men’s performance director at the England and Wales Cricket Board, said: “Jonathan Trott is an outstanding coach who has a proven record in international cricket. We are delighted that he has agreed to lead our Lions programme during a busy winter.
“Jonathan’s coaching expertise, and as a former England player who knows the value of the Lions programme having come through it himself, will be invaluable for those players as they look to progress their careers.”
Between 2009 and 2015, Trott maintained a batting average of 44.08 across 52 Test matches and 51.25 in 68 ODIs for England.
