The government-organized rally served as a platform for Iran to showcase its military capabilities. During a parade in Tehran on Friday, female members of the Revolutionary Guard were seen displaying various weapons.
Some attendees were observed trampling on American and Israeli flags. Others joined in chants of “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.”
“I am here to tell (President Donald) Trump that we Iranians have no fear about his threats against our homeland,” said Marzieh Afaghi, 24, who attended the rally with her toddler and husband. “No one in history could invade Iran and remain there.”
The event also provided an opportunity for the state to exhibit its military hardware. Anti-aircraft batteries were positioned for public view, while female Guard members wearing black headscarves were stationed alongside truck-mounted machine guns.
The Guard showcased drones that have been frequently utilized against vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has maintained control over this waterway since the conflict commenced, significantly disrupting the flow of oil and natural gas shipments from the Gulf region to the global market.
Friday’s proceedings also indicated that hardliners within Iran’s leadership, such as Taeb, are increasingly prepared to stifle any future demonstrations against the theocracy.
