Craig Richards is set for a pivotal homecoming bout in London, where he will compete at the Copper Box Arena on September 26, with the event broadcast live on Sky Sports.
Richards is scheduled to face Belgrade’s Radivoje Kalajdzic in the co-main event, supporting the headline clash between Johnny Fisher and Michael Pirotton.
The Crystal Palace native is focused on securing a victory over Kalajdzic to propel himself back into the world championship conversation.
“I’m locked in. I’m ready to do a job.
“I want to be world champion.”
Richards challenged Dmitry Bivol for the WBA light-heavyweight title in 2021, ultimately falling short in a unanimous decision that proved more competitive than many anticipated. Bivol later solidified his status as the division’s premier fighter by defeating Beterbiev.
That elite level remains the target for Richards.
“My story hasn’t been written yet,” the Londoner declared. “I didn’t do all of this and sacrifice everything to not accomplish my goals to be a world champion.
“So I feel like I should get a reward. I’m not being entitled, but I feel like the work I put in, I should get something back out of it. And that’s to be world champion.
“For sure, co-main-event fight in front of a home crowd, you know it’s a good place to start.
“Execute on the night and we move forward from there.”
