    Warren Buffett is vacating his role as chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, concluding a tenure of more than six decades at the helm of the American

    “Sixty-plus years in, I still have the best job in the world. That is not something many people my age can say and I have never felt better about what comes next.”

    Mr Buffett previously resigned as the company’s chief executive last year, with Greg Abel taking over that position.

    He added: “Greg runs the company; Howard will guard its culture and values – both worth more than anything on our balance sheet.

    “Think of Howard as a policy the shareholders own and hope never to claim against.”

    After acquiring Berkshire Hathaway in 1965, Mr Buffett converted the former textile manufacturer into a vast multinational conglomerate through a series of highly successful investments.
