The tax authority is introducing a digital portal financial crimes, acting as a radar for tax administrators. Each submission will be evaluated and cross-referenced against existing evidence, with the most severe cases prioritized for targeted audits and operational intervention.

This system elevates the ongoing battle against tax evasion. Moving beyond the simple reporting or scanning of suspicious receipts, the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) will now be able to aggregate and utilize data on activities potentially linked to organized smuggling, illegal trafficking, money laundering, and other financial offenses. The objective is for citizen tips to reach the operational teams of the General Directorate of Economic Transactions Control Squads (DEOS) through a rigorous evaluation and verification process.

The new platform, slated for activation in the near future, complements the existing Citizen Complaints system and the Appodixi application. However, it maintains a distinct scope: it is specifically intended for complex, high-stakes cases that necessitate a focused operational response.

The underlying strategy is to move away from viewing citizen reports as isolated incidents. Instead, these tips will be analyzed in conjunction with data held by the tax administration, customs records, banking information, and intelligence from other national or international authorities to build a comprehensive profile for every case.

AADE has already established a robust network for gathering information directly from the public. It is projected that between 7,000 and 10,000 complaints will trigger formal audit actions throughout 2026, as reports are vetted based on their content, risk profile, and available evidence.
