* CFO the latest top executive to depart under Diageo shake up
* Jhangiani to be replaced by Joanne Wilson some time in 2027
* News follows strategy update, turnaround plan
Diageo announced a new finance chief on Wednesday, replacing Nik Jhangiani after a two-year tenure during which he became a central figure in the Guinness maker’s ongoing turnaround efforts.
The world’s largest spirits company stated that Joanne Wilson, currently the finance chief at British advertising firm WPP and a former colleague of CEO Debra Crew at retailer Tesco, will succeed Jhangiani. Wilson is slated to assume the position in 2027, with Jhangiani remaining in the role until that time to facilitate a smooth transition.
This following a period of sluggish demand.
“Nik and I have agreed that, now we have shared our new strategy, this is the right time for this change,” Lewis said in the statement, thanking him for his support and significant contribution to Diageo.
JHANGIANI THE LATEST EXECUTIVE TO LEAVE
The finance chief’s exit represents the latest management shift at Diageo as Lewis, who took the helm in January, implements a comprehensive restructuring of the company, which produces brands including Guinness, Johnnie Walker, and Smirnoff.
Jhangiani joined Diageo in 2024 and led initiatives to boost cash flow and lower expenses, serving as a stabilizing force during one of the most volatile chapters in the company’s recent history.
He served as interim CEO following the surprise departure of then-CEO Debra Crew in July 2025 and was considered by some investors as a potential candidate for the permanent role.
Jhangiani said he enjoyed every minute at Diageo and wished the team the best for the future.
